Health Affairs Poetry Reading
Excited to have been invited to read my poem, “proc prun / roses”, for the Health Affairs briefing event for the release of their special issue on structural racism and health. The poem was published in the special issue and is available (open-access) here.
“i haven’t
quite figured out
where, exactly
i should cut myself
to partition effects
fixed upon my skin
mixed inside my ’hood with
spoons that say random shit like
“proc glimmix” and “covtest”
run;
error 76-332: Syntax error, statement will be ignored
i can hear my great-grandmother
saying i better not
scratch up her good pots
with that shit”
